Emily has been on the AMCA Board since October 2021 and was appointed Chair on 31st October 2023. She is a research scientist and passionate advocate for medical cannabis – promoting industry development, efficient production methods, education, patient access, research and regulatory reform.
Since 2016, Emily has played an integral role in developing the Australian medicinal cannabis industry, including establishing a licenced medical cannabis cultivation and research facility and releasing Australian grown cannabis medicines into local and export markets.
Following roles within the medicinal cannabis industry, Emily now runs her own consultancy as well as continuing her membership of Protected Cropping Australia (PCA), Australia’s peak industry body for hydroponic and greenhouse growers, for which she has also served as a Director and Chair. Emily has developed a dedicated Medical Cannabis stream at PCA conferences since 2019, as well as co-developing the first industry program at the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Symposium in 2022.
Emily was recognised as Australia’s 2021 ‘Woman of Weed’ in the Australian Cannabis Awards for her contribution to female leadership in the cannabis space. She is dedicated to removing the stigma surrounding the Cannabis plant and facilitating the global cannabis industry.
Experienced plant physiologist now focusing on producing high quality medicinal cannabis for the GMP flower and extraction markets.
Max leads a large team cultivating over 40,000m2 of cannabis in a mix of high-tech greenhouses and outdoor production systems.
Previously, he completed a PhD in plant physiology specialising in plant nutrition and postharvest physiology, and has worked in the commercial horticultural industry for 15 years.
In 2022/23, he has been travelling to innovative cannabis cultivation companies and related businesses as part of a Nuffield Scholarship.
Angus is a horticulture, agronomy, controlled environment, horticulture / agriculture specialist in cannabis cultivation.
His experience also includes cannabis production and seed to sale knowledge within regulated environments.
He is a cannabis science and business professiona, experienced in breeding and genetic improvement in cannabis, as well as integrated pest and disease management.
A keen process improver, Angus takes ownership of leadership, is inspired by forward thinking teams and is growth mindset focused.
Andrew is a co-founder and Director at Medicinal Harvest, a federally licenced cultivator of medicinal cannabis, located in Queensland.
Medicinal Harvest built its first high-tech, indoor facility in 2020/21 with cultivation commencing in June 2021. Construction of a second, co-located facility was completed in October 2023, which will triple the company’s current output of medicinal cannabis flower bud.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science Degree from the University of Queensland specialising in plant nutrition and protected cropping. He has 25 years’ experience in all aspects of plant nutrition, greenhouse and hydroponic production techniques for a multitude of crops. Consultancy services have been supplied to Australian and international clients, including the legal cannabis industry in Washington State.
